Das Franziskanerinnen-Kloster auf dem Reutberg bei Tölz, 1750

Archiv des Erzbistums München und Freising

Description

On the Reutberg north of Sachsenkam (Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen district), the local lord of the court, Graf Johann Jakob von Papafava, and his wife Anna had a St. Mary’s church built in 1609, the chancel of which is a true-to-scale replica of the Holy House of Loreto. In 1618, it was connected to a convent, which has been continuously inhabited by Franciscan nuns ever since. The convent view was presented to the Freising clerical government in 1750 in a dispute to give them an impression of the complex. From the south-east, it shows the condition of the church and convent after the new building in the 1730s. The individual wings and outbuildings are explained in a key. The gardens and immediate surroundings with pond and mill are also included. The "Bierhitten" at the foot of the hill, where Sachsenkam’s innkeeper served beer on pilgrimage days, as the convent’s own brewery (No. 9) was only allowed to produce for its own needs at that time, is particularly noteworthy.
