Mittelfränkisches Hopfengut Mühlreisighaus von 1746, Spalt

Description

Spalt was and is a hop metropolis. This is proven by the numerous historic hop houses in the old town and the surrounding area.

The old hop houses usually stand out due to their broken pitched gable roofs, mighty half-timbered gables and up to six roof storeys. Because a lot of space was needed in the roofs to dry and store the hops.

A particularly impressive example and probably the most important Central Franconian hop farmhouse is the Mühlreisig hop estate dating from 1746, which still towers over the main road towards Wassermungenau. It is a half-timbered building over a solid ground floor with a five-storey gable and a fourfold broken pitched gable roof.
