Please use your web browser's "Forward" and "Back" buttons to navigate in bavarikon's search result lists.
To start a portal-wide search on bavarikon.de, please use the search box on the starting page or activate the "Magnifier" symbol displayed on all other pages. Cf. the highlighted section of the following screenshot.
bavarikon.de offers separate expert searches for objects, locations and persons.
The object search allows the specific search for an object's originator, title and place of origin. By using the search box "Refine search", search results can be further improved. Also, all search results can be filtered by using the check boxes on the left of the screen.
The search for locations is explained separately in bavarikon's location database . Not only official places and municipalities can be searched for, but also administrative districts and geographic areas in Bavaria.
bavarikon's person search facility allows to search specifically for entries in a variety of biographical resources. It is possible to search for surnames, first names and occupations, the latter currently only allowing German-language entries.
Special case : when searching for sovereigns, princes and people from the time before the introduction of fixed surnames, the "first name" has to be filled into the first search box.
Using the search box "Refine search", search results can be further improved. Also, all search results can be filtered by using the check boxes on the left of the screen.

To access further information on the object displayed in the viewer, please use the "Details"-button in the upper right corner. In the lower right corner are the display settings - number of pages shown, magnify/demagnify view, browsing. To the left of that there's the quick navigation for instant access of an object's key points.
Each dart on the ticker line represents an (digital) entry on the object's contents. By moving the mouse over it, the appropiate pages will open in the viewer.
Three buttons in the upper left corner allow magnifying and demagnifying as well as to switch back into the starting position and size of the displayed object.
The navigation window in the upper right corner displays by red markings the section of the complete digitised picture shown in the main window. This marked section can be moved with a connected mouse.
To access further information on the object displayed in the viewer, please use the "details"-button in the upper right corner. The buttons to the left allow to magnify and demagnify the digitised map displayed. The map itself can also be moved by the connected mouse.
All maps have been georeferenced and are thus displayed with North justified upwards.
a) System Requirements
All 3D models on bavarikon.de are displayed using the WebGL API, itself being part of most modern web browsers. Thus to view our 3D models, update versions of your web browser as well as an adaequate video card are required. It may be necessary to activate the usage of WebGL in your browser, too.
Without WebGL, the 3D models are displayed as a rotating image.

By point-and-click with your mouse on the red "menu" button (found on the upper border of the display window) you can activate the object controls (one click) and environment controls (two clicks). Both menus are deactivated by a third click.
