Photo Archive Tino Walz

The Swiss architect Tino Walz (1913–2008) used to work for the Bayerische Verwaltung der staatlichen Schlösser, Gärten und Seen (Bavarian Department of State-owned Palaces, Gardens and Lakes). His photos document in particular the destruction of the Münchner Residenz (Munich Residence) during WWII as well as its reconstruction.

Tino Walz had managed in the most adventurous manner to save the Wittelsbach crown jewels as well as the collection of prints and drawings from the Veste Coburg (Fortress of Coburg) from seizure by the National-Socialists. These actions are recorded in impressive images.

The collection comprises c.1,000 units. It is completely analysed and digitised as well as completely searchable on bavarikon.
