Photo Archive Johann Vorzellner
Between 1946 and 1949, the railway official and amateur photographer Johann Vorzellner took exposures of the ruined post-war Munich. The over 1,300 photos not only comprise the cultural buildings destroyed by war of Munich downtown, Maxvorstadt (central borough of Munich, roughly north-west of Schwabing) and of the Munich East End, but also often included unknown buildings and their destruction. The photos are of very high quality and, thereby, an important sources on the urban development of Munich after WWII. The entire archive is searchable on bavarikon.
