Maps of Upper Franconia
The region is recorded on the Franconian map by Sebastian Rotenhan (X 123#Nr. 50) from 1533, which was preserved by a re-print in Abraham Ortelius' atlas "Theatrum oder Schawplatz des Erdbodens", which appeared in Antwerp in 1572. Several maps of the diocese of Bamberg, of the area around Kulmbach and Bayreuth from the eighteenth century are available in this collection.
A map of the Bishopric and Principality Bamberg and of the adjoining areas, created by the professor of mathematics J.B. Roppelt in 1800 (Bibl.Mont. 3167#Kt.1/4), needs to be mentioned. It was published in 1801 as a supplement to the "Historisch-topographische Beschreibung des Kaiserlichen Hochstift und Fürstenthums Bamberg" (Historical-topographical description of the Imperial Prince-Bishopric and Principality of Bamberg). A map of the Ober-Main-District (Hbks/F 19 b#Kt.7) is preserved in the atlas by J.B. Roost of 1834.
