Greek manuscripts at the Bayerische Staatsbibliothek (Bavarian State Library) - Cod.graec.
With over 650 Greek manuscripts, the Bayerische Staatsbibliothek preserves the largest collection in the Federal Republic of Germany. The codices graeci are predominantly theological in content, but most classical authors are also represented. The codices originated between the 10th and 19th centuries, many of them from the Byzantine period before the conquest of Constantinople in 1453.
The Greek psalm homilies of Origen (Cod.graec. 314) discovered in 2012 must be highlighted. Two "Munich Corvines" are Greek manuscripts: the codex Cod.graec. 449 contains the tracts ("Enneaden") by Plotinus (205-270), the founder of New Platonism; Cod.graec. 157 among others book I-V of the histories of the Greek historian Polybios (3rd/2nd century BC). Cod.graec. 595 is a handwritten copy of the Greek Constitution of 1844 made for the Bavarian King Otto I. of Greece.
