Liturgical works from the holding of the Bayerische Staatsbibliothek

Liturgical works are used in worship. bavarikon presents a selection of liturgical manuscripts from the Bayerische Staatsbibliothek's collection. The oldest date from the Carolingian and Ottonian periods, i.e. from the late 8th to the early 11th century. Gospel lectionaries or Pericopes books (Clm 23339; Clm 2938) contain the texts from the Gospels for reading on Sundays and holidays, lectionaries (Clm 6424; Clm 21597) the biblical readings during the course of the church year. Liturgical works also include sacramentaries (Clm 4456), collections of prayers for the head of the Eucharist and other worship celebrations, and psalteries (Cgm 82; Clm 19202; Clm 23093).
