Photo archive Joachim Kankel
The archive of the photographer Joachim Kankel (1921-1984), who was born in Strahlsund and has lived in Munich since 1956, comprises around 1,300 colour photographs.
The photographs of cities, buildings, landscapes and events in Bavaria date from the period between 1956 and 1982. Kankel's excellent photographs have been reproduced in publications on the Olympic Games in 1972 and in numerous other publications on Munich and Bavaria in large editions.
Joachim Kankel also devoted himself to the photography of birds, in particular birds of prey. These photographs can be found at the Landesbund für Vogelschutz (Regional Association for the Protection of Birds).
