Costs of a wedding ceremony

List of the costs of a wedding ceremony held at home ("HausCopulation")
Dinkelsbühl VA 7017

The small-format note lists the "Accidentien biy einer Haus Copulation" (income for a house wedding) – i.e. the expenses for a wedding ceremony performed on a smaller scale at home. What is remarkable here is the large number of items.

Although it has not yet been possible to assign all the names or designations listed, it is obvious that the citizens of Dinkelsbühl were also subject to social obligations during smaller celebrations. For not all those named in the list had anything to do at the celebration, some were simply included because of their low income (musicians) or their low social standing (beggars).

For example, the expenses for the rector, the organist, the organ grinder, the procurator, a head bailiff, two bailiffs, a messenger, two town tower watchmen, two town servants, an usher and one (or more) singing pupils are listed, among others.
The individual items are in given in fl. (florenus = gulden) and xr. (kreuzer), with 60 kreuzers corresponding to one gulden. The total sum thus amounts to 7 gulden and 46 kreuzers.

Unfortunately, the invoice is undated, which makes it difficult to evaluate the individual items. But it can be seen, for example, that the head bailiff received 18 kreuzers, more than twice as much as a bailiff. The head bailiff was something like the chairman of the community of beggars.
