The trained accountant and passionate photographer Max Prugger (1918-2003) documented the building and land development history of Munich, Bavaria and parts of Austria in pictures since 1940.
Initially, he took tower and aerial photographs. During and after the Second World War, he took photographs of everyday life as well as panoramas of the Alps. Prugger was commissioned by various companies and produced extensive documentation of the construction work for the 1972 Olympic Games.
The collection comprises a total of approximately 80,000 negatives, prints and slides and was acquired by the Bayerische Staatsbibliothek (Bavarian State Library) in 2019.
