Description

Eva Gräfin von Baudissin (1869-1943) is one of the German writers born in the 19th century who were forgotten, although they were highly successful in the early 20th century. The Munich-based journalist wrote feature articles, essays and sketches for various newspapers and worked for radio and film. She was a member of the Münchner Verein für Fraueninteressen and therefore part of Bavaria's bourgeois women's movement; in 1913 she joined the Münchner Schriftstellerinnen-Verein. Baudissin founded the "Münchner Frauenclub" (Munich Women's Club) in 1914. Apart from her non-fiction books and the book of etiquette "Spemanns goldenes Buch der Sitten" (1901) written by Eva (1869-1943) and Wolf Graf von Baudissin (1867-1926), only Eva von Baudissin's highly touristic travelogues in "Sie am Seil" (1914) are remembered today. In the latter, she tells how she became a high-altitude tourist and describes the tours she undertook as an alpinist under various headings. In 1928 she published an article in the Berliner Lokal-Anzeiger with the provocative title: "Is a woman equal to a man as an alpinist?" This folder contains a printed copy of the 1st edition, an unbound copy of the 2nd edition and individual inserts. Datum: 2019
