Konzertarie "Fra cento affani e cento" KV 88 (73c)

Bayerische Staatsbibliothek

Description

The text of this early concert aria by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756-1791) is taken from Pietro Metatasio's (1698-1782) opera seria libretto Artaserse (Artaxerxes). The fourteen-year-old Mozart composed it in Milan during February or March 1770, apparently for a soirée held by Count Firmian. Most of the early concert arias were composed with the intention of demonstrating the young composer's skills. The works were created during Mozart's first trip through Europe (1763-1766) and his first trip to Italy (1769-1771). These were almost entirely arias for soprano and orchestra, composed for castrato voices. This manuscript is the only autograph in a collection of nine arias by Mozart, which arrived at the Königliche Hof- und Staatsbibliothek (Royal Court and State Library) in November 1859. In August 1860 it was recognised by Ludwig Ritter von Köchel as an autograph. Datum: 2016
