In the summer of 1906, Gustav Mahler (1860-1911) wrote his 8th symphony, which he later described as his most important work, at the greatest speed. During the first half of 1907, it was completely orchestrated and copied out fair. The premiere of the work, prepared in detail and conducted by the composer himself, took place in Hall I of the Munich exhibition building on 12 September 1910. It turned into the greatest triumph in Mahler's artistic career. 500 choristers, 350 children and the augmented orchestra of the Munich Concert Society with over 140 musicians were involved. The Bayerische Staatsbibliothek (Bavarian State Library) was able to acquire the large-format autograph musical score from the composer's daughter in 1981. It features numerous additions and corrections by Mahler in ink or pencil and erasures. Datum: 2016
