Bundeslied op. 122

Bayerische Staatsbibliothek

Description

Ludwig van Beethoven's (1770-1827) Bundeslied for two solo voices, choir and wind instruments after a poem by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe (1749-1832) was initially conceived as a Lied arranged for piano and the tenor Wilhelm Ehlers (1774-1845). From mid-1824, Beethoven turned the work into the current version, and in the following year it was published by Schott in Mainz. The autograph came to the Königliche Hof- und Staatsbibliothek (Royal Court and State Library) as a "gift from Carl Holz, the imperial official and director of the concerts spirituels in Vienna. Munich, 2nd October 1845." The Viennese official and violinist Karl Holz was a close friend of Beethoven during the final period of his life. Datum: 2016
