Chansons, Bd. 1

Bayerische Staatsbibliothek

Description

The Parisian publisher and printer of sheet music, Attaingnant (around 1494-1551/52), produced high-quality musical scores since 1528 in a simple type printing process consisting of a combination of staves and notes in a single printing process. Within his extensive programme of sacred and secular works, he published a collection of 36 books of chansons, one of the richest sources of chansons by composers such as Clement Janequin, Pierre Certon and Clemens non Papa. The printing was done in 2 books, each of which contained the voices Superius and Tenor as well as Countertenor and Bassus. In its copy from the Court Library of the Bavarian Dukes, the Bayerische Staatsbibliothek (Bavarian State Library) has the world's largest preserved collection: 909 chansons in 35 books. Datum: 2016
