Moosburger Graduale

Universitätsbibliothek der LMU München

Description

The parchment manuscript of ca. 1360 is furbished with large ornamental initials and takes an outstanding position among the Latin musical manuscripts written down in Germany during the Middle Ages. It not only contains the popular liturgical chants but also a collection of songs for Christmas tide. The collegiate chapter St. Kastulus in Moosburg was transferred to Landshut in 1598 on the orders of Duke Wilhelm V and dissolved during secularisation 1803; the manuscript arrived as secularisation commodity at the University Library Landshut. Datum: 2016
