Wenz, Gustav: Karte von Südbayern (Map of Southern Bavaria) 1:200 000, 1882

Between 1870 and 1890, Georg Wenz worked in Munich as draughtsman, geographer and (school) cartographer.

The twelve-part school map was issued in 1882 on behalf of the administrative board of the Upper Bavarian Kreislehrmittelmagazin (Gazette for Teaching Material). The annual report of the Geographische Gesellschaft (Geographical Society) in Munich for 1882 and 1883 states: "Very remarkably worked out on the principles of method.-geogr. teaching".

The map also shows relevant buildings such as castles and monasteries, places of important battles and special agricultural features such as hop- and wine-growing areas.
