The Archiv und Bibliothek des Bistums Würzburg

The Archiv und Bibliothek des Bistums Würzburg (Diocese of Würzburg Archive and Library - ABBW) is a Diocese of Würzburg scientific institution. In 2004, the two institutions that had previously existed separately from each other, the Diözesanarchiv Würzburg and the Diözesanbibliothek Würzburg, were merged into one organisational unit.

ABBW is responsible for the Diocese of Würzburg's written records, which document the work of the Catholic Church of Würzburg and ensure the traceability of ecclesiastical actions and decisions. These printed and unprinted sources are made accessible for use, permanently preserved and made available to the interested public.

ABBW is a knowledge repository and centre of excellence for (diocesan) historical issues and offers assistance and information on the available archival and library sources.
