Renner Pottery (since 1884)
In 1884, the property located on Eckersdorfer Weg, which is equipped "with two cellars, stable, barn, wood holder, kiln and courtyard [...] grass and a herb garden in front of the house," passes from the possession of the potter Konrad Grassy to the Renner pottery. The pottery, which is still a family business today, is now in its sixth generation. The company's own clay was mined underground from clay pits in the Hutschdofer forest until 1974.
The main products are iron oxide yellow or manganese brown glazed or slip trailer decorated cookware, ovenware and roasting dishes. 124 vessels from the 1950s and 60s were given to the Grassi Museum of Applied Arts in Leipzig as the Lotte Reimers Foundation. Work is still carried out according to traditional models and techniques handed down through the ages today.
